HOW IT WORKS
The 501(c)3 organization was started in order to make a difference in the life of any child who is unable to attend collegiate sporting events due to disability, illness or disease. We do this by pairing a patient with an athlete from one of the college sports teams in town.
We provide the child and their family with all the essentials of a tailgate such food, beverages and backyard games, along with a watch party to cheer on their paired athlete! The child will also receive a gift basket from our donors and a wristband from Playing 4 Hope to match the one their player is wearing. The wristbands symbolize a special bond between the child and the player. The friends and family of the child will also receive a matching wristband.
Additionally, the child is given a personal audio-visual message from the athlete they are paired with. This video, along with the wristbands, are meant to give the child hope and let them know that this particular athlete has dedicated their game to them! This is where the children have an opportunity to spread hope back into the community as well. Playing 4 Hope encourages all of the children to send a “pump up” video or handwritten note back to the athlete (and team) who is playing for them, giving them the extra encouragement to get the job done.
At Playing 4 Hope, we realize not everyone can make it to these events and thus our goal is to create a similar experience and provide everything that comes with it. In doing this, we subsequently build everlasting relationships and foster inspiration.
